Life-Long Data Science Education · Gamified

iDartagle.

The gamification of life-long data science education — where learning is everlasting, quests are ongoing, and mastery is earned through lived experience.

Most data education teaches tools. iDartagle develops Data Masters. Because data mastery is a spectrum — not a static title, and not a course you finish.

How the System Works
The Mechanics

What is iDartagle?

A real-world role-playing system for developing data mastery — turning professional growth into something structured, measurable, and alive.

This takes fantasy roleplay and makes it real. The world is your stage. You are the leading actor of your own professional narrative.

⚔ Quests

Applied Practices, Real Outcomes

Quests are not hypothetical tests. They are applied practices with real outcomes — building a pipeline, analysing a dataset, presenting a story, or improving system reliability. Every meaningful action becomes part of your progression.

✦ Experience Points (XP)

Growth Through Execution

XP measures growth through execution, not theory. You earn XP by doing, reflecting, refining, and improving. Small actions earn micro-XP. Major projects unlock transformative XP. Mastery is accumulated lived experience.

◎ Campaigns

Extended Arcs of Growth

Campaigns are extended arcs of growth. A research project. A product build. A six-month improvement cycle. Campaigns tie quests together into something cohesive and directional — shaping your professional narrative.

◈ Identities

Evolving, Not Assigned

Not job titles. Not roles assigned by others. Identities reflect how you move across the Data Spectrum. As your experience deepens, your identity evolves. In iDartagle, a Data Master shapes reality through data.

Nine Attributes · Three Realms

The Data Spectrum

Data work is a dance across multiple modes of thinking — from physical systems to logical structure to emotional meaning. The Spectrum makes those modes visible and trainable.

"If your strongest colour is your class, your weakest colour is your next quest."

The Philosophy

Why This Approach Is Needed

Data does not slow down. Systems evolve. Expectations expand. The landscape keeps moving.

Learning, however, is often treated as something temporary — a course to complete, a milestone to reach, a box to tick.

iDartagle is built for a different rhythm.

Learning is not an event. It is a practice. It is lived.

Quests replace isolated tasks. Campaigns connect effort into narrative. Experience points measure what is earned through action.

This is education woven into reality — structure fused with play, mastery accumulated through lived experience.

There is no final level. Only depth.
The Call

Who is iDartagle for?

Anyone who wants to stay sharp in data work without turning their life into endless courses.

iDartagle was created for the members of the Data Scientists LinkedIn group — a community of over 200,000 data enthusiasts — with the goal of bringing deeper engagement, shared practice, and a living learning system to a group that already exists but rarely acts together.

For
The Explorers

Discover the Data Spectrum through hands-on quests — exploring different forms of practice while uncovering the kind of practitioner you are becoming.

For
The Practitioners

Practice with identity by taking on real roles, earning XP through execution, and building mastery grounded in the work you actually do.

For
The Guides

Support the growth of others by mentoring, shaping team dynamics, and bringing balance across the Data Spectrum through experience.

For
The Masters

Continue practicing as a way of being — integrating identity, purpose, and contribution while helping evolve the system itself.

If you work with data, you live on the spectrum. iDartagle gives you a way to move on purpose — not drift.

Campaign Roles & Identities

Every practitioner in iDartagle takes on an identity that reflects how they move across the Data Spectrum. Multiple players may take on the same role — if you feel called to a Bard, Druid, Guardian, or any other identity, that path is open to you.

Guides
Wizard

Anchors the campaign in purpose and transformation — guiding others from vision to reality across the full spectrum.

Guides
Warrior

Grounds the campaign in physical execution — ensuring systems, infrastructure, and action can support the journey.

Physical Foundation
Druid

Builds and maintains infrastructure — managing hardware, systems, and the environment where data is formed.

Physical Foundation
Guardian

Designs and manages data flow — ensuring pipelines move cleanly and reliably across the system.

Logical Core
Ranger

Generates and analyses data — using logic and simulation to shape insight before it is expressed.

Meaning & Expression
Bard

Crafts narrative and storytelling — translating data into meaning that resonates with people.

Meaning & Expression
Rogue

Grounds the work in real-world context — exploring domain knowledge and shaping intent through research.

Meaning & Expression
Sorcerer

Builds the product experience — creating software, interfaces, and systems that turn insight into action.

Integration
Seraph

Connects all realms — integrating infrastructure, data flow, and interaction into a unified system.

NPC Mode
Spirit

A Spirit joins any campaign as a quiet presence — observing, contributing minimally, and adding energy to the fellowship without taking on a full practitioner role. The Spirit mode can be layered on top of any existing character type. Always welcome, never obligated.

The Player's Guide
Before You Play

iDartagle is not merely played. It is practiced.

The culture of iDartagle is not something to memorize. It is something to live out through presence, respect, curiosity, contribution, and reflection.

Every campaign is an opportunity to become more than you were before entering it.

The Domain Master

Each campaign is guided by one player who takes the role of the Domain Master.

The Domain Master:

  • defines the problem domain,
  • clarifies the campaign objective,
  • maintains alignment to the mission,
  • and helps the fellowship remain focused on meaningful progress.

In professional environments, this role is similar to a Product Owner, Research Lead, Founder, or Mission Sponsor.

The fellowship respects the stewardship responsibility carried by the Domain Master.
